Australian National Rally of
Mercedes-Benz Clubs in Canberra.
The following note was published in the June edition of the Mercedes-Benz club of the ACT.
RALLY PLANNING ACCELERATES
The pace of planning and negotiations for the National Rally, to be held in Canberra next April, has 'hotted up' a touch, with the 'Invitation to Register' and 'Registration Form' due to appear in or with July issues of the Australian and New Zealand magazines. Watch out for your copy of these important documents next month.
Elsewhere in this June edition, you'll find an article describing the hosting arrangements for the contingent of UK Club members that will be touring in Australia before, during and after the Rally. If enthusiasts of the Mercedes‑Benz brand are prepared to come all that way to attend one of our premier events, they deserve to be properly looked after. And that's our aim.
ACT and NSW members of the Rally Committee are working closely together, and with Victoria Club representatives, to give the UK visitors a memorable and seamless touring experience. There will be more information about these arrangements in due course, but if you are interested in getting involved in that tour, either as a tourist or as a helper, please contact Lindsay Miller.
Turning to the subject of helpers, I'm pleased to welcome all the volunteers who've offered their services in assisting with the running of the Rally here in Canberra. These and the prior volunteers are much appreciated. Numbers now stand at 24, so we still need more.
Relevant articles in previous editions of Star ACT have described the sorts of tasks that can be undertaken by the volunteers, so I won't repeat them here. But what I will stress is that, although we'd like every member to participate in the Rally, those unable to can still register as a helper and will be very welcome. Indeed, some tasks will suit participants while others could better be taken on by members not touring or attending Rally venues. All you have to do at this stage is call one of the ACT Rally Committee members listed below.
